PRAGUE THEATRES
- National Theater ( Národní divadlo)
The building was finished in 1881 , after 13 years of hard work ,but was destroyed accidently by fire . The necessary 1 million gold coins were collected in one month and theater was rebuild and opened again on November 18th 1883 with the premiere of Bedřich Smetana´s opera " Libuše ". The Theatre was reconstructed in Neo-Renaissance style by architects Josef Zítek and Josef Schulz. The magnificent interior was decorated by 19th century artists such as were Mikoláš Aleš, Vojtěch Hynais, František Ženíšek, Julius Mařák, Václav Brožík and sculptor Bohuslav Schnirch.
