Prague: The medieval town of Prague has its origin in 9th century when the Prague Castle was founded. The present capital of the Czech Republic covers a total area of 497 sq. kilometres. Prague is built on both banks of the Vltava River. Centrally located on the left bank there is Prague Castle and Lesser Quarter (Malá Strana). On the right bank of the river there is situated Vyšehrad, Old Town (Staré Město), New Town (Nové Město) and the Jewish Town (Josefov).
